Workshop Topics:

Yummy Plant Parts

Six parts of plants that we eat will be introduced to children as they participate in hands-on-learning activities.  The make-and-take projects will reinforce their interest in plants and the food they provide.

Presented by Debbie Howell, a retired educator, who earned her doctorate degree from Louisiana State University and spent 36 years teaching and serving as Chair of the Kinesiology and Physical Education Department at the University of Central Arkansas.  Debbie loves the outdoors and has enjoyed gardening throughout her life.  She became a Master Gardner in 2014 and is a member of the Faulkner County Master Gardeners.

 Worms Can Dig It!

Through experiments and observations, children will explore the earthworm's physical and behavioral adaptations that make it one of nature's "dirt diggers."  Children will also make and take their own "worm jar."

Presented by Betty Baxter, a retired middle school science teacher, who has been a Faulkner County Master Gardener since 2008.  She loves sharing with children her enthusiasm for gardening - especially playing in the dirt!
